In an incident that seems to show the spread of the deadly Momo challenge, a 12-year-old girl and a 16-year-old boy in Colombia committed suicide after reportedly playing the suicide challenge game.

The two kids who died within 48 hours lived in the municipality of Barbosa, in the north-west Colombian area of Santander.

In case you don’t know what the Momo challenge is, it involves adding a contact number named Momo to your phone. Once you do so, you can see a scary picture of a bird-like woman with bulging eyes for the number saved. Momo will send you a send numerous challenges and threats, with the last task being suicide.

The scary picture is actually the work of a Japanese artist names Midori Hayashi, but she is not associated with the game in any way.

Once you click on Momo’s image and start an interaction, the contact can spy on your phone and access all your information and picture to threaten you later on.

If the players do not complete the challenges they are reportedly threatened with being cursed with an ‘evil spell.’

Dubai Police warned people from sharing this game and asked parents to warn their children from this game which is responsible for several suicide cases in many countries around the world, according to Al Bayan.
