One of the most commonly used messages apps in the UAE, WhatsApp is no wonder being targeted by scammers who are trying to take advantage of its popularity to hack into sensitive information.

While you might think WhatsApp is one of the most secure messaging services around, it’s actually very easy to hack someone’s WhatsApp account if one knows the phone number connected to a WhatsApp account.

Scammers know that it’s easy to hack someone’s WhatsApp account and they have started hacking accounts.

Certify your team in cybersecurity before your company is hit by a cyberattack

With growing concerns of WhatsApp accounts being hacking in the region, the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority issued a notification on Twitter sharing the steps to follow if your WhatsApp account is hacked.

In case you are affected by a hacking attack, you need to remove and reinstall WhatsApp at a different time of the day. You should also immediately inform your relatives and friends about hacking and urge them not to respond to any messages coming from their number on WhatsApp.

The hacked account holder should email the technical support of WhatsApp at support@whatsapp.com and provide your phone number in the format +9715XXXXXXXX.

And you must try to reinstall WhatsApp every day.
